! Important information for Trigg Healthcare patients
Health authorities have announced the inevitable spread of the new coronavirus and government pandemic protocols have been activated.
Please remember that for most people the new coronavirus infection will be mild and pass quickly, like any normal winter cold. No need to panic! We support all attempts to prevent transmission to the medically vulnerable people of our community and all possible ways to do this have been considered.
Here at Trigg Health we have carefully considered the best way forward, the resources we have and what role we can play in this coming pandemic.
We have introduced new policies to protect you, our patients, and our staff. Our goals are to avoid becoming community spreaders ourselves, especially to the elderly and vulnerable patients in our waiting room, and to attempt to avoid closure of the practice for quarantine. Our goal is to continue to meet your normal healthcare needs this coming winter but will NOT be seeing unwell patients with respiratory illnesses.
Please remember mild respiratory illness does not need a medical review and self care at home, with social distancing from others, is all that is required.
Our surgery is not equipped to routinely assess or test patients with potential coronavirus AT the surgery. Anyone with a fever or any respiratory symptoms could have coronavirus. We have NO protective equipment and NO isolation room.
Our role in this pandemic will be to continue normal medical care in its midst and we will not be assessing patients face to face with respiratory illness or fever.
Our patients with mild illness can book a new PHONE CONSULTATION (normal fees apply).
Our patients with more serious medical symptoms will require face to face assessment at new WA health run respiratory clinics colocated at the hospitals OR the emergency department if very unwell.
If you have a fever or any respiratory illness regardless of travel status do NOT come to the surgery. Call the Coronavirus Health Information Line on 1800 020 080 for general advice or our reception on 9447 0600 if you feel a phone consultation is right for you. If you have travelled overseas, regardless of if you are well or unwell, you MUST tell our staff when booking appointments.
Please note all patients arriving at the practice may have their temperature taken and will be asked about respiratory symptoms and travel history. Daily SMS and reception triaging will also take place to keep our waiting room as safe as possible.
Some patients are already being asked to wait in the car instead of the waiting room. This may extend to all patients as this continues.
During consults you may notice the room set up has changed and there will be less staff/patient contact.
You will notice some doors remain open and staff will regularly disinfect surfaces. Toys, books and magazines have been removed from the waiting room.
Services we will offer
- phone scripts that don’t require a consult. Fee for ALL patients applies.
- NEW PHONE/TELECONFERENCE CONSULT – you can now make this type of appointment; fees apply with NO MEDICARE rebate and pre payment is required. Please be aware there are some issues that cannot be addressed by a non face to face consultation. It is possible that Medicare rebates for this will be introduced.
- We can NOT provide insurance paperwork for cancelled travel unless there are genuine non-Coronavirus medical reasons
- If you require a clearance to return to work/university & after self isolation, please call our surgery to make a telephone consult to discuss further. Please be aware that the coronavirus situation is rapidly changing and there is no testing currently available to predict whether or not a symptom-free patient is infected with the virus.
